I will try to keep this as short as I can. First, I am a busy corporate woman. I work 8 hours and then have time during the evenings to be home for my four-legged friends – 1 dog, 3 cats (2 are outside cats the other has been declawed by my folks and is older cat) Anyways, I have literally hit rock bottom! I LOVE my pets. They mean so much to me. I would be devastated to give them away, but having them is coming in between my relationship. The prob I have is that ‘they’ cat or dog?? have soiled my carpet pretty bad. I have tried EVERYTHING to get rid of the smell. I don’t know what to do anymore to remedy this prob I can’t live smelling the ammonia odor from crystallized urine. My bf said if I don’t do anything he doesn’t know if he can be with me anymore (they are my pets my problem). I hate having to choose, but I agree it is a problem. I have the dog in a crate at night and most of the time he is outside. 1 cat is inside. The carpet is ruined. What can I do – please help save us!
BTW – What do you if you can’t tear up the carpets? Can you suggest other things I can do to eliminate the smell for good? Or is the damage permanent?

Oh, dear, this is too easy…you get rid of the boyfriend. It’s the BOYFRIEND coming in between the relationship between you and your pets. If he’s not willing to help you solve this problem other than cart the animals off, give him the boot. He can adapt to his new environment much easier than you pets would if you gave them away. And then pull up that carpet, clean good with bleach and start all over…new carpet, new boyfriend, same loving pets. Good luck.
rip up the carpet and pad, seal the floor and replace it with inexpensive throw rugs.tell your bf to help you out and let the dog out or scoop the box.
if he keeps complaining get rid of him not the pets
if you cant rip up the carpets use a carpet cleaner with natures miracle or another odor neutralizer
vinegar works also.
pets will love you no matter what…and won’t make demands your heart can’t keep. Animals are great so are BF’s but…
think ..
how long have u 2 been together?
Did the cats and dog act like that b4?
Animals sense a not so nice person, maybe they are telling u something?
The jealously and not liking the BF could make them all rebel against him.
How does he treat u? Is he mean do the animals see that?
How does he treat the animals.
I was given an ultimatium once and I tossed the BF out after 7 yrs…I finally listened to my animals and all was heaven after he left.
Have you tried professional cleaning?
They have chemicals and equipment not available to the home consumer.
I agree with others.
In a relationship there’s no your problem. By definition, partners HELP each other. Why be in a relationship if you’re on your own when problems come up? You may as well be alone.
Plus, if he’s that willing to dump your pets, is he going to be tollerant of sick, needy or aged loved ones?
I’m sorry, but if I had to choose, it’s pets.
But, if you wanna fix your carpet and not rip it up, may I suggest Nature’s Miracle. Go to a pet store and pick up a nice big bottle of Nature’s Miracle. Spray it on the urine and stool stains, leave it for 5 – 8 minutes, and with paper towels or an old rag that you’ll throw away, scrub, and you will see your carpet look brand new and the smell gone!!
But, as you know, urine goes through carpet and onto the wood underneath, so in the future you might wanna tear off the carpet and check.
I really seriously do recommend Nature’s Miracle. Best product ever.
